Extent of Ministry

1. In Correctional Centres:

    • Volunteers may visit inmates on a one-to-one basis seeking to build relationship and point them to faith in Christ and disciple them.
    • Volunteers may go as a group to the Correctional Centres and run programs, bible studies, discussion sessions, etc.
    • Volunteers may assist the Chaplains with services.
    • Volunteers may assist inmates with Day Release Sponsorship
    • Volunteers may assist inmates by serving in Education, or other Programs events.
    • Volunteers may assist inmates through the Art Exhibition
    • Volunteers may write to inmates to encourage them and disciple them.
    • Volunteers may act as mentors for inmates as they transition out of the correctional centre into community.

2. In Courts:

    • Volunteers lend a listening ear to those who need or want to share.
    • Volunteers may be on a roster to serve refreshments in the court foyer.
    • Volunteers may seek to offer a caring presence to those who need some TLC, short term child care.
    • Volunteers may serve refreshments to the holding cells at the court.

3. Among Families:

    • Volunteers may follow up families of inmates, using established contact procedures.
    • Volunteers may minister to families as a result of follow up to Angel Tree and Camp WerX.
    • Volunteers may assist families to visit the inmate.
    • Volunteers may assist families through the Families Network.

4. Victims:

    • Volunteers may assist victims through the Sycamore Tree project, Angel Tree, Family network, Camp WerX.
    • Remember that inmates are themselves so often victims of crime. Remember families of inmates are also victims of crime.

5. Churches:

    • Volunteers can assist churches in following up contacts – ex-inmates, families, victims – made through projects and ministries.
    • Volunteers may serve as promotional speakers in local churches, including their own.
    • Volunteers help churches to be praying for this ministry and recruiting new volunteers.

6. Office:

    • Volunteers can help by assisting in the office with general administration or projects.

7. Prayer:

    • All volunteers are urged to pray, to have prayer partners and establish prayer groups.
