Court Support

This is an integral part of Prison Fellowship’s ministry to the victims of crime. Court Support ministries operate within the courthouse environment and vary according to the local needs and days of sittings, but generally in the mornings. It is a caring ministry in an environment of anxiety, loneliness and worry. Volunteers are given basic training and peer support within a team.

Serving refreshments

Many of the teams serve hot and cold drinks to those in the Court precinct. This is a free service where donations are collected. The volunteers are there as a friendly face and a caring presence, ready to be a listening ear and to help answer general questions about the court processes. It is not a counseling role.

Support Services

In some cases special training is done to provide specific support for victims and witnesses as well as occasional childcare. At times volunteers may be able to accompany people in the courtroom.

Representing the Local Churches

Prison Fellowship encourages christians from the local churches to minister as a team in the courts representing God’s love on behalf of the local churches reaching out to those who are hurting.

Volunteers

Prison Fellowship seeks those who are willing to commit to long term ministry of caring, of practical good works and showing God’s love. Modeling the Gospel message is vital in this ministry.

We require people willing to give of their time and who are prepared to be trained, to learn and to sacrifice for the sake of God’s Kingdom.

We require people who are good listeners, have a friendly smile and have a compassion for those who are victims of crime.
