Changed Lives

Up one level
PF-SA 'Changing Lives on the Inside'
The DVD (Teaser below) explains the beginnings of Prison Fellowship.
Like a Woven Tapestry
"After 16 years of smoking and a lifetime of nail biting and numerous attempts to give up, my prayers were answered. I then found myself faced with a new perspective on life and God and a thirst for more. I can't deny what has happened. This is the path I now know I am called to and not just myself. Why would anyone want to walk the path to death when there truly is a road to life?"
My former profession
Crime became my profession. I believed I was born to be a criminal and I was going to die a criminal. I had everything this life could offer—beautiful home, expensive sports car and brand name clothes. My mates and all my criminal associates were shocked to hear my resignation from crime and turning to Christ; as well as the Federal Police, the State Police and the National Crime Authority.
Darren's life restored
I was told at the age of five I was adopted. My father asked me if I understood. I said yes because I loved my mum and dad but deep down I did not know what being adopted meant. I did not understand and felt alienated from the world. I did not know where I fitted in.
My Prison Experience
I spent nearly two years in a deplorable Brazilian prison set aside for international 'visitors' where the staple daily diet was a handful of black beans and a cup of boiled rice. Yes, I met the 'great train robber' Ronnie Biggs who was there from time to time. I was one of 13 men squeezed into an area not much larger than a big bathroom.
MP Goes to Gaol
Eighteen months in prison brought about a complete change in the life style of former British Cabinet Minister Jonathan Aitken. His fall from grace came in 1999 when he pleaded guilty to charges of perjury arising out of a civil libel case
God entered my cell
When I found myself in the Adelaide Remand Centre I spent a good proportion of that first night lying prostrate on the floor - as low as I could get-pleading with God to forgive me and protect me. It was only a day or so before I was bashed in a holding cell at the infirmary. A frightful experience.
