Lives in Transition
A model for change, a reason to hope.
A unique project designed to tackle the growing problem of repeat offending.
The project is located at Port Phillip Prison and has two phases:
- A twelve week Biblically based pre-release course that provides prisoners with new skills they require when released into the community.
- Provision of a mentor for each course graduate when he is released into the community.
This program is primarily volunteer driven. Volunteers from various professions and skills travel to Port Phillip Prison to provide instruction. Mentors are all volunteers.
Extraordinary Lives
Creating a better future.
A special ministry that focuses on the children of prisoners. Children of prisoners are up to six times more likely to go to prison as an adult compared to the average population imprisonment rate. The ministry expresses itself through two programs:
Angel Tree where children of prisoners receive a Christmas gift at prison Christmas parties. Although the gift is marked from Dad, who has the pleasure of giving his child a gift at the party, the gifts are provided by volunteers and supporters of Prison Fellowship.
More than 600 gifts will be distributed.
Kamp for Kids and Kamp for Teens where children of prisoners attend a camp in the September school holidays.
